Mandi and Robin: They revised the Doublement
strategy.
REVIVING THE DOUBLEMINT STRATEGY
Trading on one's looks isn't a typical strategy in the computer
world. But twin sisters and business partners Mandi Fiddle Bergenfeld
and Robin Fiddle figure that their double-take appearance is just
as good as any other marketing gimmick. "People are enamored
with twins," says Bergenfeld. "That gives us a marketing
edge." The identical duo's company, Twin Computer Training,
has lured high-profile clients such as ABC-TV and Chase Manhattan
Bank. As women in a male-dominated field, they have another bonus:
certification as a Minority and Women Business Enterprise, which
makes them eligible for contracts set aside for minorities and women.
Of course, keeping clients means eventually the sisters must show
off their talents, not just their looks. But they take Mother Nature's
bounty seriously. Bergenfeld, who is right-handed, manages the books.
Left-handed Fiddle tackles creative tasks, such as designing presentations
and developing projects.
